Lab Automation Day: Setting the Course for the Digital and Automated Life Science Lab of the Future

This seminar gives an introduction into the various aspects of laboratory automation – where it can be profitably applied, which aspects have to be considered and how the implementation can be carried out successfully. Participants will gain insights into state of the art of laboratory automation and will be presented best practices in theory and examples of successful automation in practice.

Particularly in times of transformation, it is important to set a strategic course to secure economic sustainability. Digitalization and automation have proven to be the key to success in many industries, and are now transforming the field of life sciences. Set the course now to automate and digitize laboratory work and thus be well positioned for the upcoming years.

Routine work in the laboratory is labor-intensive and usually requires qualified staff with specific know-how. However, many of these tasks can be automated in order to increase reproducibility and throughput – and thus relieve the workload of the skilled staff. In addition, human errors can be avoided by automating the highly repetitive activities. The integration of state-of-the-art measurement technology allows close monitoring and adaptive response to the process.

As a research institute focusing on production technology, the Fraunhofer IPT offers many years of experience in production processes, metrological systems, process automation and quality management. In the "Life Sciences Engineering" business unit, the Fraunhofer IPT researches and develops leading-edge technologies for the entire range of life sciences from the pharmaceutical industry and biotechnology to medical technology.

We form interdisciplinary teams of engineers, biologists and medical experts, who develop customized concepts and technical solutions for the entire process of product development and support our customers through the entire process, from preliminary research to market orientation and certification.

Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
