Catalysis permeates all areas of chemistry and it is a key technology in the global effort to improve resource efficiency and sustainability. Inspired by biocatalysis, the Collaborative Research Center 1333 examines the influence of defined cavities as a reaction environment on molecular, heterogenous catalysts. The findings are then used to design rational, customized catalyst carrier hybrids from an organometallic catalyst and a mesoporous carrier material.
The climax of the initial funding phase of the SFB 1333 project, will be the identification of the boundaries and challenges of catalysis in defined, confined geometries, followed by a discussion. This will take place at the mini symposium on May 12, 2021. This mini symposium will offer an interdisciplinary platform, demonstrating ways of identifying the special effects of catalysis in cavities, to understand these, and to use them for organometallic catalysts and much more besides.
As part of this interdisciplinary approach, we are delighted to announce the following keynote speeches from recognized experts in the fields of catalysis, materials science and spectroscopy:

• Prof. Antoni Llobet, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain
• Prof. Samuel I. Stupp, Northwestern University, USA
• Prof. Ulrich Tallarek, University of Marburg
Furthermore, selected scientists from the Collaborative Research Center 1333 will also be presenting their current research findings. National and international early career researchers will be presenting their work as part of an online poster session.
