Kunstwerke dienten der Macht, als Geschenke oder der Mahnung zum Frieden. Die Kuratorinnen Claudia Brink (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden) und Susanne Jaeger (Leibniz-Institut für Geschichte und Kultur des östlichen Europa, GWZO) beleuchten Künstler und Kunstwerke in einer der dramatischsten Epochen der europäischen Geschichte, dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg.
Vorgestellt wird der Essayband "Bellum et Artes", der das gleichnamige internationale Ausstellungsprojekt, an dem auch das GWZO beteiligt ist, begleitet.
