Popular Music, Populism and Nationalism in Contemporary Europe

Experts from 12 countries discuss the role of popular music in the context of current cultural changes triggered by the rise of populist nationalist and far-right parties. A panel discussion highlights challenges and opportunities of mediation in this field. Keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. John Street (University of East Anglia), political scientist and popular music researcher, and Dr. Mary N. Taylor (City University of New York), cultural anthropologist and expert on Hungarian cultural and music history.
