The Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and the Marburg-based start-up LATODA have developed a new method to increase the energy yield of wind turbines. The rotor blades are checked for material fatigue using thermography and artificial intelligence. Following the successful completion of a feasibility study, initial results were presented at a workshop in March 2023. The project is to be continued and the AI for image evaluation will be trained with a further 4,000 processed image data sets by summer 2024. In this workshop, we will
- Present the AI methods for analysing thermographic inspection images
- Explain results in detail and in technical depth
- Conduct hands-on training using the BAM-dataset or datasets brought along by participants
- Discuss implications of the method, e.g. for regulation and certification

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
