7th International Conference on Light Materials – Science and Technology (LightMAT 2027)
March 10 – 12, 2027 | Siegen, Germany & Online

The LightMAT 2027 conference invites scientists, engineers, and professionals from academia and industry to explore the latest developments in aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and their alloys. This biennial conference will focus on the fundamental and advanced aspects of these light metals, from metallurgy and processing to industrial applications.

In addition to core topics such as microstructure evolution, material properties, and advanced simulation techniques, LightMAT 2027 will highlight cutting-edge advancements in processing, joining, and corrosion protection. A special thematic focus on Green Manufacturing and Sustainable Materials will address the challenge of reconciling materials science innovations with industry needs to promote closed material cycles, improve sustainability, and reduce dependence on primary raw materials.

The conference will also provide in-depth discussions on the latest innovations in:

- Fundamental aspects of aluminum, magnesium, and titanium alloys, including metallurgy and processing challenges.

- Conventional and advanced lightweight applications, especially for automotive, aerospace, and transportation sectors.

- Microstructure evolution and the relationship to material properties, including the role of advanced simulations.

- Industrial fabrication and joining technologies for lightweight materials, with a focus on corrosion protection.

- Additive manufacturing for lightweight designs and novel product development.

- Formability and advanced forming technologies for creating complex components with light alloys.

This conference will also foster interdisciplinary exchange, bringing together experts from materials science, engineering, and industry to discuss innovations that will drive the future of lightweight materials.

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
