Referent: Dr. Manfred S. Weiss, EMBL Hamburg Outstation, c/o DESY
Abstract:
Since the WHO has declared tuberculosis a global health emergency in 1993, the need for new drugs against the disease has become more and more apparent. In a large project, which involves many research groups around the whole world, a structure-based approach is used to identify and validate new lead compounds which may have the potential of being developed into new drugs. Particularly, the enzymes of the Leu- and Lys-biosynthetic pathways appear to be promising targets. Some of the recent structural results will be presented as well as first hints towards the identification of inhibotors.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
