Am 28.10.2004 findet in der Landesvertretung Sachsen eine Abendveranstaltung des IÖR und der Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung statt. Die Veranstaltung mit dem Titel "Grüne Utopie? Aspekte zum ökologischen Stadtumbau" nimmt mittels Impulsreferaten die Diskussion über Möglichkeiten einer ökologischen Stadtentwicklung zwischen Agenda 21 und der Steuerung von unterschiedlichen Nutzungsansprüchen auf. Dabei wird den Fragen "stellt die historisch gewachsene Stadt mit ihrer Dichte ein effizientes und nachhaltiges Modell dar oder "verbrauchen" Siedlungsballungen und Städte wertvolle Naturflächen?" nachgegangen.
