Inspiriert und begeistert durch den Erfolg des "Jahres der Physik 2000" veranstalten die Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft und das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung ein jährliches Physikfestival jeweils in einer anderen Stadt Deutschlands: die "Highlights der Physik".
Im aktuellen Einsteinjahr ist das Physikfestival in den Wissenschaftssommer eingebunden und lädt ein nach Berlin, in der Zeit vom 13. bis 18. Juni 2005. Leitmotiv der diesjährigen "Highlights" sind Einsteins Geistesblitze am Beispiel der Themen Zeit, Licht und Zufall. Mitveranstalter ist diesmal BESSY, die Berliner Elektronenspeicherring-Gesellschaft für Synchrotronstrahlung m.b.H.
