In anderen Bundesländern werden die Preise per Post an die Schulen verschickt. Der Universität des Saarlandes ist es wichtig den Erfolg des saarländischen Physik-Nachwuchses sichtbar zu machen.
Die Buchpreisverleihung findet im Rahmen des Tags der Offenen Tür statt. Sie beginnt um 14.30 Uhr mit einer "Experimentellen Vorlesung" von Professor Thomas Wichert zum Thema: "E = m ? c2: Was Sie schon immer über Energie wissen wollten".
Im Anschluss (15.15 Uhr) überreichen Professor Rolf Pelster und Dr. Doris Simon (Lehrstuhl für Experimentalphysik und Didaktik der Physik) den frischgebackenen Abiturienten ihre Preise sowie eine vom Präsidenten der DPG unterzeichnete Ehrenurkunde. Alle Preisträger werden zudem für ein Jahr Mitglied in der DPG.
