Molecular Staging of Cancer Congress and Brokerage Event

The Molecular Staging of Cancer Congress is organised and hosted by DKFZ - the German Cancer Research Center in co-operation with the Faculty for Clinical Medicine at the University Clinic of Mannheim and the European Association for Cancer Research.

The Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum, Innovation Relay Centre Stuttgart-Erfurt-Zürich will organise a technology brokerage event at the 2nd International Congress on Molecular Staging of Cancer. The brokerage event take place from 23. - 24. June 2006. The event will offer a meeting forum for technology developers and those seeking technology from all over Europe to discuss future collaboration and business in the oncology sector.

The Congress:
Well known keynote speakers from all over the world will present the newest developments in cancer research during the 5-day congress. The congress is accompanied by a poster exhibition, an evening reception at the historical castle in Heidelberg and the Brokerage Event.

Topics that are likely to be covered at the event include:
- Large scale molecular profiling - chances and challenges
- Bioinformatic modelling in the era of large scale profiling
- The current status of molecular staging and key markers in main tumour entities (colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, sarcoma, lung cancer, melanoma, endocrine tumours, brain tumours)
- Translation of basic molecular knowledge into in vivo models and the clinic (transcription, signal transduction, invasion and metastasis, apoptosis, minimal residual disease, molecular imaging)
- The design of new targeting strategies
- Interdisciplinary lunch sessions (targeted therapy in Europe, how companies search for targets, success stories of molecular targeting, get-together roundtables for technology transfer)
- Comprehensive Cancer Centers - learning from experience
