Zellverhalten und Entscheidungen über das Schicksal einer Zelle sind das Ergebnis koordinierter Aktivierung und Deaktivierung einer Vielzahl von Signalwegen. Welche Ursachen lösen das gezielte Verhalten von Säugetierzellen aus? Die Antwort darauf können quantitative mathematische Modelle der Interaktionen in Signalwegen und der Wechselwirkungen von Transkriptionsfaktoren und ihren Zielsequenzen geben. Systembiologische Forschungsansätze führen dabei die Kenntnisse experimenteller und theoretischer Wissenschaftler zusammen.
