Cellular behavior and cell fate decisions are the result of the coordinated activation and deactivation of multiple signaling pathways.
What causes the purposeful behavior of mammalian cells? An answer can be provided by quantitative mathematical models for example of the interactions of signaling pathways or of the interactions of transcription factors and their target sequences.
For this purpose research approaches in Systems Biology bring together the expertise of experimental and theoretical scientists.
