Statt "immer weiter" lautet der Wahlspruch der Nanotechnologie "immer kleiner" und "immer effizienter". Ein Nanometer ist der millionste Teil eines Millimeters. Man erwartet von der jungen Disziplin neue Materialien und Technologien wie z.B. Minilabors zur Blutuntersuchung, die auf einen Computerchip passen.
Dr. Martina Gerken, Universität Karlsruhe, wurde vor kurzem mit einem Preis vom Bundesforschungsministerium ausgezeichnet und berichtet über die Möglichkeiten und Auswirkungen dieser neuen Technologie.
