Im Jahr der Mathematik lädt die Fakultät für Informatik und Mathematik am
6. Juni 2008 zum Linear Algebra Day mit Professor Gilbert Strang ein.
Professor Strang hat am Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in Oxford und an der University of California, Los Angeles studiert und lehrt bis heute am MIT. Er möchte Studierenden der ganzen Welt die Mathematik "schmackhaft" zu machen und sein Wissen und seine Leidenschaft für die Wissenschaft mit anderen teilen. "Jeder kann Mathematik begreifen", sagt er.
Studierende auf der ganzen Welt sind von seinen Büchern und seinen hervorragend didaktisch aufbereiteten "Video Lectures" begeistert. 2006 wurde Strang von der Northeastern Section of the Mathematical Association of America für seine Leistungen in der Lehre und seinen weitreichenden Einfluss auf den Mathematikunterricht weltweit mit dem Award of Distinguished College or University Teaching of Mathematics ausgezeichnet.
Ob Kollegen aus Hochschulen und Schulen, Studierende oder Schüler - alle, die sich für lebendig vorgetragene Mathematik begeistern, sind herzlich willkommen.
