Kartoffelwelt. Karriere einer Knolle - Eröffnung Wanderausstellung

Am 18.10.2007 führten die Vereinten Nationen in New York das Jahr 2008 als "Internationales Jahr der Kartoffel" ein. Es soll auf die Bedeutung der Knollenfrucht als eines der weltweit wichtigsten Grundnahrungsmittel hingewiesen werden. Die Geschichte der Kartoffel als Kulturpflanze begann vor ca. 8.000 Jahren; in Europa kennt man sie seit dem 16. Jahrhundert. Die GTZ (Gesellschaft für technische Zusammenarbeit) hat eine Wanderausstellung konzipiert, die die Vielseitigkeit der Kartoffel darstellt (Speisekartoffel, Veredlungsprodukt, Industriekartoffel, Rohstoff für kompostierbare Biokunststoffe, Ethanolherstellung, Futtermittel etc.). Sie ist im August in Quedlinburg im JKI täglich zu besichtigen.
