Kann die Hirnforschung das Wesen des menschlichen Geistes vollständig aufklären? Der Streit über ihre Erklärungsleistung dreht sich auch darum, was eigentlich wirklich ist. Das Wirkliche ist das, was mitunter Wirkungen hat. Die Kontroverse zwischen den neurobiologischen und den sozialen Geisteswissenschaften hat es deshalb auch mit der Frage nach der Art und Weise zu tun, wie der menschliche Geist in der wohl verstandenen Welt wirksam ist.
Professor Dr. Lutz Wingert ist Inhaber eines Lehrstuhls für Philosophie an der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) Zürich und Mitglied des Zentrums für Geschichte des Wissens der ETH und der Universität Zürich.
