In der Villa Oppenheim, einer nahe dem Schloss Charlottenburg gelegenen, noblen Gründerzeitvilla, soll zukünftig die zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts entstandene Kunstsammlung der damals noch selbständigen, reichen Stadt Charlottenburg gezeigt werden. Werke von Künstlern der Berliner, Düsseldorfer und Münchner Malerschulen sowie der Berliner Secession bilden den Kern der Sammlung. Die Namen der in der Sammlung vertretenen Künstler, z. B. Eduard Gaertner, Adolf Menzel, Max Liebermann, Walter Leistikow und Hans Baluschek sind repräsentativ für das Kunstschaffen seiner Zeit in Berlin.
Schöne Kunst also ist genug vorhanden. Wie aber muss die Sammlung präsentiert werden, damit Besucher in die Villa strömen? Wie bringt man die Kunst zum Sprechen?
