Beim „2. Tag des Mathematikunterrichts“ stehen die Berechnung von Zufallsexperimenten und die Erstellung von Statistiken im Zentrum. Die beiden Hauptvorträge finden im Hörsaalgebäude der Mathematik (E2 5) statt. Professor Andreas Eichler von der pädagogischen Hochschule in Freiburg spricht zum Thema „Daten verstehen“, Professor Anselm Lambert führt dies in seinem Vortrag „... und Zufall berechnen“ fort. Die Referenten stellen didaktische Hintergründe vor und skizzieren Beispiele mit und ohne Einsatz eines Computers.
Am Nachmittag werden parallel zwölf schulpraxisnahe Workshops in den Seminarräumen der Mathematik und Informatik zu stochastischen Aufgaben angeboten. Detaillierte Informationen sind zu finden unter:

Der Tag des Mathematikunterrichts ist eine Kooperationsveranstaltung von ILF (Institut für Lehrerfort- und -weiterbildung), LPM (Landesinstitut für Pädagogik und Medien) und der Universität des Saarlandes (Lehrstuhl für Mathematik und ihre Didaktik und Zentrum für Lehrerbildung). Am ersten Tag des Mathematikunterrichts 2008 nahmen über 200 Lehrer aus allen Schulformen teil.
