Proklamation Insekt des Jahres 2011

Am 8. November wird das Insekt des Jahres 2011 für Deutschland, Österreich und die Schweiz vorgestellt werden. Die Schirmherrschaft hat Landrat Bodo Ihrke, Kreis Barnim, Brandenburg, übernommen.
Das Insekt des Jahres wird das dreizehnte Mal proklamiert. Wir wollen damit auf diese besondere Tiergruppe hinweisen, die in der Bevölkerung häufig nur als lästig, z.B. Flöhe und Mücken, und nur selten als schön empfunden wird, nämlich Schmetterlinge. Insekten sind die größte Tiergruppe überhaupt. Die Natur ist noch längst nicht vollständig erforscht. Wahrscheinlich sind 80 % aller Tiere, so wird geschätzt, Insekten.
Dieses Jahr haben wir uns für eine Insektenfamilie entschieden, die alle kennen – und trotzdem nicht viel über sie wissen. Es ist ein spezielles Insekt.
