Eisen- und Zinkmangel gehören zu den häufigsten Mangelerscheinungen: Mehr als drei Milliarden Menschen sind weltweit davon betroffen. Beide Nährstoffe sind vor allem in Fleisch vorhanden. Daher sind insbesondere Menschen, die sich überwiegend von Getreide ernähren, von Mangelerscheinungen betroffen. Seit einigen Jahren befasst sich Winthrop Professor Zed Rengel von der „University of Western Australia“ in Perth, der zurzeit als Humboldt-Preisträger am Institut für Pflanzenernährung forscht, mit der Anreicherung von Mikronährstoffen in Pflanzen. Über dieses Thema wird Professor Rengel am Mittwoch, 26. Januar 2011, um 16 Uhr im Hörsaal F005, Blaue Grotte, Herrenhäuser Str. 2, einen Vortrag mit dem Titel „Micronutrients: from soil to plate“ halten. Interessierte sind herzlich zu der Veranstaltung eingeladen.
