Mit „De Profundis“ steht zum zweiten Mal ein großes Vokalwerk von Hans Gál auf dem Programm. In fünf Sätzen greift der Komponist Leitmotive der Barocklyrik auf, die das Lebensgefühl, die Hoffnungen und Sehnsüchte von Menschen spiegeln, deren Alltag durch die Wirren des Dreißigjährigen Krieges bestimmt war. Das Werk kommt unter der Leitung von Bruno de Greeve zum ersten Mal seit seiner Premiere 1948 in Deutschland zur Aufführung. Die Solopartien übernehmen Dorothee Fries (Sopran), Christa Bonhoff (Alt), Dantes Diwiak (Tenor) und Konstantin Heintel (Bassbariton).
Mit „Nänie“ und „Schicksalslied“ von Brahms beginnt der Konzertabend. Da die Werke ein ähnliches Thema behandeln, werden sie textlich wie musikalisch auf das komplexe Werk Gáls einstimmen.
