Wissenschaftshistorisches Kolloquium
Ruth Lewin Sime ist Autorin der preisgekrönten Biographie "Lise Meitner: A Life in Physics".
Abstract
Lise Meitner worked at the KWI für Chemie from 1912 until 1938, a period in which the institute became a renowned center for radioactivity and nuclear physics, and Meitner achieved international recognition as one of the leading physicists of her time. My talk focuses on Meitner’s science, from radioactivity to nuclear physics to the discovery of nuclear fission; on her exceptional success as a woman in German science; and on the racial politics that forced her out of the institute, shattered her career, and denied her the recognition she deserved for her part in the fission discovery.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
