Mehr als 400.000 künstliche Gelenkimplantate werden in Deutschland pro Jahr eingesetzt. Der häufigste Grund für eine OP: Abnützungserscheinungen. Schmerzende Gelenke wie Knie, Hüfte oder Schulter müssen aber nicht immer
operativ behandelt werden.
Kritische Stimmen behaupten sogar, dass oft zu schnell zum Skalpell gegriffen wird. Doch wie können Schmerzpatienten feststellen, ob der Eingriff sinnvoll ist? Und wann wird zu leichtfertig operiert?
Diese Fragen beantwortet Prof. Carsten Perka von der Klinik für Orthopädie der Charité in seinem Vortrag „Gelenkersatz heute“. Zudem stellt er neue OP-Techniken vor, die ein künstliches Gelenk überflüssig machen, und vermittelt einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand der Gelenkchirurgie.
Im Anschluss gibt es die Möglichkeit zur Diskussion.
