Although many biological processes strongly control water supply and water distribution in ecosystems, the multitude of links between biology and hydrology is still under discussion.
Under the topic “Water for Life” the upcoming third Biohydrology conference will set the focus on water scarcity, climate change and increased pressure of land use due to food production and unsustainable land use practices. In four main topics biohydrological processes and biogeochemical interfaces will be discussed in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems at various spatial and temporal scales.
Experts from the fields of hydrology, ecology, biology, soil science, geography, forestry and engineering are invited to share their knowledge and their ideas and to present and discuss new conceptions in an interdisciplinary surrounding.
Topics and conveners:
1. Biohydrological Processes at Various Scales
(Lubomir Lichner, Andreas Lorke, Erik Cammeraat)
2. Food and Water Security, Biodiversity and Climate Change
2.1 Food security, water scarcity, climate change and biohydrological impacts
2.2 Interaction between biodiversity and biohydrology
2.3 Doom, gloom and biohydrology - fire, drought and flooding
(Paul Hallett, Stefan Doerr, Horst Gerke)
3. Coupled Land-Water Ecosystems
3.1 Coastal systems
3.2 Freshwater systems
3.3 Water-to-land effects

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
