The popular series “Culture: Technology” organised by TIB and the Literary Salon will be continued in 2013. The first meeting of the year on Tuesday, 29 January 2013 will focus on the networked world. It wasn’t longer after computers, e-mail, electronic publishing and online research had become established as a new set of scientific research tools at the end of the 1990s that the network culture took a completely new turn. Since the advent of Web 2.0 and iPhones, the intensity of networked communication has expanded radically, and for many researchers, too, “being digital” has become a fundamental element of their existence. Media optimists envisage in this trend a growth in circulation and participation that stimulates knowledge creation and promotes Open Science. Sceptics argue that key actors such as Google and Facebook, for their part, are not particularly “open” and that merely dissipating information in various crowds and clouds does not ensure substantial levels of growth. The old ivory tower, wasn’t that also a gate keeper?
Eckhard Stasch (Literary Salon) in discussion with cyberscience pioneer Michael Nentwich and OpenScience mentor Lambert Heller (TIB).

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
