Als grafische Darstellung von Daten kann das Diagramm die unterschiedlichsten Formen annehmen. Die philosophische Diagrammatik bewegt sich auf der Trennlinie zwischen Ordnung und Unordnung, Komplexität und Komplexitätsreduktion. Es gehört zur impliziten Gewalt der diagrammatischen Praxis, dass die Überkomplexität eines unübersichtlichen Sachverhalts mit Hilfe von Reduktion zu bändigen versucht. Nicht selten geht dies einher mit einer Entschärfung und Reduktion der heterogenen Mannigfaltigkeit des Seienden auf etwas, was es nicht ist. Für Marcus Steinweg ist es für die diagrammatische Praxis unerlässlich, statt ihre Gewaltsamkeit zu verbergen, sie mit auszustellen.

Der Philosoph und Künstler Marcus Steinweg lebt und arbeitet in Berlin. Er hält zahlreiche Vorträge im In- und Ausland. Steinweg ist Mitherausgeber der Zeitschrift »Inaesthetics« im Merve Verlag.
