Der Titel des 1940 von Wilhelm Nestle verfassten Werks „Vom Mythos zum Logos“, das den Beginn des abendländischen Philosophierens thematisiert, hat Berühmtheit erlangt. Das Johannesevangelium beginnt mit den Worten „Im Anfang war der Logos“. Und trotz der vielen Bedeutungen, die das Wort „Logos“ hat, wurde und wird „Logos“ im Anfangsvers des Johannesevangeliums immer mit „Wort“ übersetzt. Es scheint also mit dem Wort etwas Besonderes auf sich zu haben. Und das gilt zweifellos auch in der Philosophie. Harald Schöndorf SJ wird in dieser Vorlesung ein wenig der Eigenart des Wortes nachspüren.
