Are climate engineering approaches fatally prone to error and abuse? Should they therefore be excluded from the climate conversation on both practical and moral grounds? Are they an emergency measure that could have far-reaching and unpredictable consequences if deployed? Or could they be a relatively straightforward remedy for some of the consequences of climate change? And how should research on these questions be regulated?
These questions, and many others raised by the prospect of climate engineering, have an ethical, social, political, and technical dimension and are relevant to all members of society. However, researchers, policy-makers and the public have so far had few opportunities to collectively engage with the subject from a wide range of perspectives. This first large international conference therefore comes at an important moment in the governance of climate engineering in particular, and climate change in general. It strives to provide a global forum for vigorous exchange and creative dialogue, to bring new voices into these critical global discussions, and to examine how climate engineering intersects with other topics within and beyond the climate change discussion.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
