Religious discrimination is more the norm than the exception in many countries. What forms of religious discrimination can we observe around the world today? Which religious groups are under particular threat and what are the most common forms of religious discrimination in different world regions? At this GIGA Forum, one of the world’s leading scholars in the area of religious discrimination, Jonathan Fox (Bar Ilan University, Israel), will put key insights from his latest book, The Unfree Exercise of Religion: A World Survey of Discrimination against Religious Minorities, up for discussion. This will be complemented by perspectives from GIGA researchers and other scholars. The panel will focus on the causes and consequences of religious discrimination for global, regional, and local politics and its implications for the relationships between different religious groups across the globe.
Speaker:
Prof. Jonathan Fox, Professor of Political Science at Bar Ilan University, Israel
Prof. Matthias Basedau, Lead Research Fellow at the GIGA and Professor at the University of Hamburg
Prof. Richard Traunmüller, Visiting Professor of Quantitative Methods in the Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Mannheim

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
