Plastics are used for a wide variety of industrial and consumer applications due to their diverse properties. A 100% plastic-free Europe, therefore, seems difficult or unrealizable. However, efforts are needed to avoid the use of plastic wherever possible and sensible, to look for sustainable alternatives, to promote (quality high-quality) recycling and also to avoid or at least significantly reduce the impact of plastic waste on ecosystems.
Against the background of the compelling advantages of plastics, but also the need for action with regard to the challenges in connection with plastics, the visions of the discussion participants for the future handling of plastics and their use are discussed - especially with regard to sustainability and industrial approaches.
