Potatoes are the fourth most important staple food crop world-wide, with a high increase in cultivation area in China and India in recent years. Despite their economic importance, advances in yield and resistances against major diseases are lacking behind in comparison to other crops. This is partially due to the highly heterogeneous and tetraploid nature of potato. In order to progress in these areas, breeding and assessment of new and improved varieties is a key objective of the potato community. To achieve this goal, international exchange and cooperation can contribute significantly and this is the major aim during the Joint Meetings of the EAPR Section Breeding and Varietal Assessment and the EUCARPIA Section Potatoes.
The meetings are a triennial conference series jointly organized by the European Association of Potato Research (EAPR) and the European Association for Research on Plant Breeding (EUCARPIA). The primary objective is to bring together outstanding scientists from various fields centering around the improvement of potato. Here, information on progress is exchanged and the future breeding and research directions are discussed with a common interest: to understand, promote and effectively utilize potato for the benefit of humankind.
Previous meetings were held in Italy (2015), Hungary (2012), the Netherlands (2009) and Ireland (2006).

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
