06/16/2019 - 06/20/2019 | Berlin
An intensive exchange is provided by the programme scheme: 3.5 days’ of oral/poster presentations, workshops and exhibition will be followed by one day of technical tours. It is innovation and solution focused by addressing water stress from three different perspectives:
Plenary sessions will open the conference days. Outstanding experts will address key topics in water reuse, before the community splits into thematic lecture sessions.
All posters will be displayed permanently during the whole conference in the networking area and will be accompanied by an award for the best Young Water Reuse Professionals poster.
The trade exhibition will complete in the networking area as the conference communication hub. For the final conference day several technical tours in and around Berlin are actually in preparation.
Topics from Technology to Regulation
Conference topics include implementing safe, innovative & cost-effective water reuse solutions for agriculture, urban environments and landscape irrigation, groundwater and potable reuse as well as integrated reuse systems and small-scale and/or decentralized systems. Operation, maintenance and service arrangements for water are also a major topic, including monitoring and compliance, market acceptance of reuse solutions, public perception, engagement, and acceptance as well as risk management, regulation and governance and social and economic perspectives. Furthermore, partnerships for reuse scheme development/ and industrial symbiosis are examined. Case studies show how water reuse can be brought from 0% up to 100%, how reuse bottlenecks can be resoved and how the limits of traditional water treatment can be extended. Technologies and methods include the development of risk assessment models, the handling of microbial and chemical components, innovative treatmet technologies and applications and the water, food and energy nexus in reuse.
To Berlin, the Capital City
Berlin is a fascinatingly unique mix of history, zeitgeist and energy, a city combining great cultural diversity with an incomparable range of events and opportunities of sightseeing. Get your own impression of this vibrant city on the conference website. Focusing on water, Berlin with its very narrow water cycle is a good example for water stress based on seasonal changes and the risk to develop towards permanent water stress due to climate change and urban growth. Besides the Berlin Water Company (BWB) a range of highly active water networks, e.g. German Water Partnership (GWP) and AQUANET and research institutions, e.g. Technical University of Berlin, IGB Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology among others are located here. As German capital, all important high level governmental institutions are represented in Berlin, e.g. the Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Environment Agency (UBA).

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
