Das Potenzial von Data Science ist riesig – von datenbasierter Entscheidungsunterstützung bis zur Optimierung der Instandhaltungsprozesse. Kernelement von Predictive Maintenance sind Prognosemodelle, die die Time-To-Failure (TTF) berechnen. Das ist jene Zeit, die bis zu einem Ausfall einer Maschine noch verfügbar ist, um mit präventiven Instandhaltungsmaßnahmen zu reagieren und einen ungeplanten Maschinenausfall zu verhindern.
Zur Prognose der TTF werden im Speziellen Methoden des Maschinellen Lernens eingesetzt. Dabei existiert eine Vielzahl an Klassifikations- und Regressionsalgorithmen, die nur auf ihren effizienten Einsatz warten.
