10/12/2023 - 10/13/2023 | Jena
In order to promote young talents and thus innovations in the fields of optics and photonics, Fraunhofer IOF together with the Graduate School Max Planck School of Photonics is again hosting the Photonics Days Jena - an international networking and career event for students and doctoral candidates.
From October 12 to 13, the organizers invite you to network with an international community and representatives of renowned companies at this hybrid event. In addition to the professional exchange, the focus will be on orientation in career issues and the provision of valuable contacts for one's own professional career. But the acquisition of scientific skills is not neglected either.
#explore: The future of space applications
Under the motto #explore, a varied program awaits participants on the very first day of the event. In the lecture series "Photonics4Future", researchers will present various photonic future markets. In line with the Science Year 2023, which is dedicated to the theme "Our Universe", the Photonics Days Jena will also focus on photonic technology that reaches for the stars. In the lectures, participants will learn all kinds of exciting things about space systems and space applications that not only serve to explore galactic expanses, but also address concrete issues such as combating climate change. Further program points with hands-on character invite to become creative together in the team.
A special highlight of the first day of the event will be a keynote speech by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla. The Chairwoman of the Executive Board of the German Aerospace Center will speak about current transformation processes that aerospace is currently experiencing against the backdrop of global warming and climate policy realignments. The evening will be rounded off by the presentation of the Applied Photonics Award, Fraunhofer IOF's young researcher award for innovative theses in the field of applied photonics, as well as an evening program for all participants in Jena. A digital Escape Room is available for online participants.
#engage: Shaping careers through networking with strong partners
The second day of the event will focus on individual career planning and active networking. At the "Industry Breakfast", participants will have the opportunity to establish valuable contacts with established companies from the optics and photonics industry on site. Throughout the morning, discussions can also be continued at a networking lunch break. In exchanges with attractive employers, participants can explore opportunities for internships, theses or specific job offers. In this way, students and doctoral candidates can gain perspectives on their own career paths even before they have completed their studies.
In a subsequent house tour, the presence participants will have the opportunity to look behind the scenes of the Fraunhofer IOF. In parallel, industrial partners from Jena can offer tours of their sites.

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
