Im diesjährigen Smart City Index des Digitalverbands Bitkom, der jährlich alle deutschen Städte ab 100.000 Einwohnern auf ihre Fortschritte bei der Digitalisierung untersucht, konnte sich die Stadt Regensburg sowohl in der Gesamtwertung als auch in vier der fünf Unterkategorien deutlich verbessern und zählt mit Platz 17 nun zu den Top 20 der smartesten Städte Deutschlands. Damit ist die Stadt im Vergleich zum letztjährigen Ranking um 17 Plätze aufgestiegen und hat als eine von fünf Städten am meisten Boden gut gemacht. Grund dafür ist die erfolgreiche Umsetzung verschiedenster Digitalisierungs- und Smart-City-Projekte.
