QC Compact: Quantum Computing Basics and Applications

Introduction to Quantum Technologies

How does quantum computing (QC) work, what principles is its programming based on and why does the so-called “quantum advantage” promise disruptive change in almost all industries? In a one-day workshop, experts from Fraunhofer IAO will introduce QC and present the innovation network, its opportunities and challenges, and potential applications.

Quantum computing promises great potential for companies in almost all sectors thanks to its speed and efficiency advantages. The QC compact seminar provides participants with a comprehensive overview of the current innovation network in the field of quantum computing.

After an overview of the two quantum technologies, quantum computing and quantum sensing, we will discuss the differences between classical computers and quantum computers and the associated challenges and opportunities, in particular types of problems that can potentially be solved with QC. We then demonstrate the quantum principles using qubits by explaining e.g. bloch sphere and quantum states such as superposition and their measurement. Based on this, different quantum algorithms and exemplary use cases will be presented.

Optional: In the afternoon, we invite participants to get to know the state of the art of today's system architectures and to deepen this knowledge with a final visit to our Quantum Lab and the phenomena of the quantum world.

The seminar at a glance:

Morning:
- Quantum technologies and the innovation ecosystem
- Quantum computers vs. classical computers: challengesand opportunities (incl. problem categories)
- Quantum principles: Qubits, Superposition & Co
- Quantum algorithms and use cases

Afternoon (optional):
- Quantum hardware of different system architectures
- Quantum errors and correction
- Visit Quantum Lab

The event is aimed at Quantum Computing Enthusiasts, Management without Prior Technical Knowledge, Politicians, Decision-Makers, Cross-Disciplinary Enthusiasts.

Help

Search / advanced search of the idw archives
Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.

Selection criteria

You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).

If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
