MSE 2026 is part of a long-established biennial conference series organized by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM). The congress provides a structured platform for presenting and discussing recent scientific and technological developments across the field of materials science and engineering. Contributions range from fundamental research to application-oriented studies and reflect the interdisciplinary character of the field.
The scientific program is organized into thematic areas including biomaterials, characterization methods, digital transformation, functional materials and devices, circular materials, modeling and simulation, processing and synthesis, and structural materials. Topics such as data-driven materials research, artificial intelligence in materials design, and sustainable material cycles are addressed alongside experimental and computational approaches. The program includes plenary lectures, technical sessions, and poster presentations, enabling the exchange of methods, results, and perspectives.
The congress is designed to facilitate interaction between academia and industry. Contributions from early-career researchers are explicitly encouraged. Abstract submission for posters is open until 31 July 2026.
