This year marks the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These devastating attacks, as well as decades of testing and production of nuclear weapons, have caused severe and lasting human suffering and ecological damage.
As part of a series of events with survivors of nuclear weapons tests, organized by IPPNW Germany, the nuclear survivors Aigerim Seitenova and Aigerim Yelgeldy from Qazaqstan as well as Hinamoeura Morgant-Cross from Mā’ohi Nui visit Germany to give personal testimonies about the impact on their health, their country and their communities.
Aigerim Seitenova will show her documentary film JARA – Radioactive Patriarchy: Women of Qazaqstan which explores the survival stories of six women who deal with the tragic legacy of 40 years of nuclear testing on Qazaq land. Afterwards, a panel of survivors and researchers will discuss challenges of nuclear justice and will explore how we can and should deal with nuclear wrongdoing.
The event is organized in cooperation between IPPNW Germany and PRIF.
