About the project:
Rooted in the efforts of civil society and women’s rights activists, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) laid the foundations for one of the most visible frameworks for promoting gender equality in global peace and security. On this occasion, a series on PRIF Blog examined the current state, challenges and future of the WPS Agenda during the past months.
The E-Book is the final product of the PRIF Blog Series: Bringing together the contributions of 19 authors, it offers diverse perspectives and reflections on the achievements, struggles, and possible futures of the WPS Agenda. It explores the knowledge systems that have evolved around WPS, from postcolonial critique to questions of institutionalization. It also addresses the backlash against the WPS Agenda and considers how it can be reimagined to realize its transformative potential in a rapidly changing world.
About the Webinar:
The digital launch event will present the E-Book “25 Years of Women, Peace and Security: Between Promises, Backlash, and Feminist Reimagining” and celebrate the conclusion of the corresponding PRIF Blog series.
During the webinar, Clara Perras and Simone Wisotzki, editors of the series, will share insights in the story behind the project, and Toni Haastrup will give a keynote on the current status of the WPS agenda. Together we will discuss key learnings and gained perspectives with the authors.
