Viele kennen es: Eben war man noch auf der Flucht vor einem wilden Tier oder stürzte im freien Fall in die Tiefe – und plötzlich erwacht man aus einem Albtraum. So geht es rund 13 Prozent der Deutschen mindestens einmal pro Woche, wie eine Umfrage im Auftrag von „Spektrum der Wissenschaft“ im Jahr 2022 ergab.
„Albträume können belastend sein, besonders wenn sie häufig auftreten. Dabei sind die Ursachen vielfältig: Stress, Ängste oder auch psychische Erkrankungen wie z. B. posttraumatische Belastungsstörungen können hier eine Rolle spielen“, sagt Jonas Mathes, wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Bereich Psychologie an der SRH University.
Bereits zum dritten Mal lädt die SRH University am 22./23. September 2026 zum „Nightmare Symposium“ ein, um über aktuelle Erkenntnisse und Entwicklungen in der Albtraum-Forschung zu diskutieren. Die digitale Veranstaltung bietet Expert:innen aus verschiedenen Fachdisziplinen die Möglichkeit, ihre Forschungsarbeiten in Vorträgen zu präsentieren und mit Fachkolleg:innen sowie der Öffentlichkeit in den Austausch zu kommen.
Die Vorträge werden auf Englisch gehalten. Folgende Themen stehen in den einstündigen Zeitslots jeweils zur Auswahl:
