We invite journalists to a short press lunch, which will briefly and concisely outline current aspects of neuroscientific research in the field of AI and Machine Learning. Internationally renowned neuroscientists from different disciplines show which conclusions they can draw from research into the functioning of the brain and which opportunities may arise for future work in the field of AI and Machine Learning.
On the panel are
Susanne Schreiber is Professor of Theoretical Neurophysiology at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and chairwoman of the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience. Her research interest lies in evolutionary aspects of neuroscience, be it in insects, mammals or humans.
Gilles Laurent is a director at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt. His scientific interests lie at the interfaces of cellular, systems and computational neuroscience. Recently, his research on the camouflage behavior of cuttlefish has gained a lot of media attention.
Tatjana Tchumatchenko is head of the Theory of Neural Dynamics Group at the Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt. She has received the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize in 2016. As a passionate mathematician who likes to think outside the box, she is interested in applying her findings in many areas.
Matthias Bethge, head of the German AI Center Tübingen, researches and develops new algorithms for Machine Learning. He is co-founder of two start-ups and not least the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems ELLIS. ELLIS aims at creating a European network promoting excellence and advancing breakthroughs in AI.

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.
You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).
Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
You can also use the advanced search without entering search terms. It will then follow the criteria you have selected (e.g. country or subject area).
If you have not selected any criteria in a given category, the entire category will be searched (e.g. all subject areas or all countries).
