EBCP flagships - the national perspective: Comprehensive Cancer Centers

EBCP flagships: the national perspective
The European Cancer Plan was published by the EU Commission in early 2021. The Flagship Initiatives described therein pursue an ambitious goal: to substantially improve all aspects of cancer, from prevention to quality of life for survivors by 2030. A virtual event series was established as "lunch talks".

Join us on 09. December from 12:00 to 13:00 for another EBCP Flagship - "Lunch": Our signature series continues with the next episode focusing on "Comprehensive Cancer Centers Networks".

A cancer diagnosis is a hard blow of faith but having the certainty of optimal treatment decisions, taken in groups of interdisciplinary experts in a timely manner can be very reassuring. Especially if this expertise comes from all across Europe.

Patients with rare conditions can already profit from expertise that may be missing in their country, still having their local physician as a single point of contact: The European Reference Networks (ERNs) have proven successful for rare diseases including rare cancers in bundling knowledge and creating centers of excellence across Europe.

Based on the long standing positive experiences with the ERNs, the European Commission has proposed in the EU-Beating Cancer Plan the extension of the ERN idea to common oncological entities by building an EU-wide Network of Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

The establishment and the maintenance of such networks is a challenging political terrain which requires substantial financial and expert resources. Germany is currently in the process of building such Network and could contribute and profit at the same time from the expertise on building network governance and sustainable financing models.

We are delighted to welcome Mr. Cristian Busoi a Member of the European Parliament very dedicated to the cause of cancer along with three distinguished speakers, the ERN Pediatric Cancer Coordinator Prof. Ladenstein, Vienna, Austria, the Coordinator of the European Reference Network MetabERN Prof. Scarpa, Udine, Italy and the German Head of Personalized Cancer Networks, ZPM and DNPM Coordinator Prof. Nisar Malek, Tübingen, Germany.

Combination of search terms

You can combine search terms with and, or and/or not, e.g. Philo not logy.

Brackets

You can use brackets to separate combinations from each other, e.g. (Philo not logy) or (Psycho and logy).

Phrases

Coherent groups of words will be located as complete phrases if you put them into quotation marks, e.g. “Federal Republic of Germany”.
