Bild 2: Ein zusammengesetztes Infrarotbild vom Jupiter aus Aufnahmen, die SOFIA während des “First Light Flights” bei Wellenlängen von 5,4 (blau), 24 (grün) and 37 Mikrometer (rot) mit der FORCAST Kamera (Cornell University) gemacht hat. Als Vergleich wird ein Bild von nahezu derselben Jupiterseite gezeigt, das kürzlich bei optischen Wellenlängen gewonnen wurde. Der weiße Streifen im infraroten Bild zeigt einen Blick durch eine vergleichsweise transparente Wolke in den wärmeren Innenbereich vom Jupiter.
