Christoph Martin Wieland, dessen historisch-kritische Edition an der Universität Jena erarbeitet wird, wurde hoch geschätzt, wie auch dieser Brief (hier das letzte Blatt) Heinrich von Kleists an Wieland (Dresden, den 17. Dezember 1807) zeigt. Hier nennt Kleist den Abend mit Wieland vor dessen Kamin den „stolzesten Augenblick seines Lebens“.
