Nur etwa ein tausendstel Millimeter dick sind diese aus Silbernanopartikeln bestehenden Strukturen auf einer Kunststofffolie. Das hochleitfähige Material wird mit einem speziellen Tintenstrahldrucker aufgebracht. Diese Strukturen fungieren als winzige "Chiplabore", auf denen DNA-Proben aufgebracht werden können, was im neuen „Jena Center for Soft Matter“ der Universität Jena weiterentwickelt wird.
