Unter dem Fluoreszenzmikroskop wird die hohe Transfektionseffizienz der magnetischen Nanopartikel sichtbar. In Zellen einer Zelllinie, die vom Chinesischen Hamster abstammt, wurden DNA-Moleküle eingeschleust: einerseits mit PEI, dem bislang üblichen Vektor (oben), andererseits mit magnetischen PDMAEMA-Sternen (unten). In grüner Farbe leuchten jeweils die Zellen mit erfolgreich verändertem Erbgut; blau sind die Zellen, bei denen das nicht gelang.
