Die Rhomboid-Protease, die im ER vorkommt (blau), spaltet das fehlgefaltete Membranprotein (grün) innerhalb der Membran. Anschließend werden die Bestandteile ins Zytosol transportiert und dort durch das Ubiquitin-Proteasom-System weiter abgebaut.
