Simulation der Erkennung von Antigen in einem infizierten Lymphknoten des menschlichen Immunsystems. Die schwarzen Linien zeigen die - im Wesentlichen zufälligen - Bewegungspfade der einzelnen Zellen. Jedesmal, wenn eine Zelle auf Antigen trifft, verlangsamt sich die Bewegung ein wenig. Jeder Kreis in der Abbildung illustriert die Zahl (Kreisfläche) und Geschwindigkeit (Farbe) der Zellen im umgebenden Bereich des simulierten Lymphknotens nach zwei, vier, sechs und acht Stunden Suche. Nach acht Stunden haben alle Zellen das Antigen gefunden und ihre Bewegung entsprechend stark verlangsamt (rote Farben).
