Das 100-m-Radioteleskop Effelsberg bei Beobachtungen im Rahmen eines regelmäßigen Suchprogramms für neue Pulsare in Richtung des galaktischen Zentrums. Das galaktische Zentrum befindet sich in Richtung des Sternbilds Schütze (Sagittarius) und wird von Effelsberg aus nur sehr tief am Horizont in südlicher Richtung für etwas mehr als zwei Stunden pro Tag sichtbar.
